ITEM 1404 Item 1404: Shawnee Pottery Company figural electric lamp, Circus Elephant with a ball design. This lamp was produced circa the late 1930's - early 1940's, and it is a very attractive & well done elephant. As is typical of that era, cold paint was used to decorate the lamp, and the paint was applied over the gloss glaze; resulting in some paint loss over the decades. The lamp is in very good condition with no chips, no cracks, and paint loss as seen in the photos. The lamp's blue plastic socket housing is in very good condition, the metal shaft is tarnished, and the socket itself & wiring should be replaced- though it is in useable condition. Figural lamps such as this were not marked as Shawnee, but it has been verified in company records & reference books. The lamp still has most of the original paper U L Listing label on the base, and the lamp size is 10" tall by 5" diameter at the base.
