Value : $35 - $40     This plate is 8" square with a gold fleck color field and a pair of stylized white & black color stallion horses in the center. The rear side is titled Horses by Alexander in hand painted gold lettering, and the foil label is marked Made in California by Alexander. The shape of this plate being square makes it harder to find on the market, and the subject of wild horses with flowing manes is very desirable.

Value : $50 - $55     This plate is the largest size made; 12" with a gold fleck color field and three wild horses in the center. The rear side is untitled with an incised Alexander mark in the glaze, and a foil Made in California by Alexander label. The subject is the same as the prior plate with added interest being the horses' black, white, and gray colors. The larger size plates have more impact, making this one an attractive item with a good value.

Value : $35 - $40     This plate is 8" with a bright red color field and a white & black Siamese cat in the center. The rear side is untitled with an incised Alexander mark in the glaze, and a foil Made in California by Alexander label. The plate is one of only a few that Alexander made in red color, and the stylized cat has captivating blue eyes. Overall it is a stunning piece and very popular.

Value : $25 - $30     This plate is 8" with a pink speckled color field and a happy black color cat in the center. The rear side is untitled with an Alexander mark in block letters. The kitten has a decorative wide collar and the look Alexander created with the colored dots on it's feet & ears gives you the sense that this kitty is going out on the town. The plate is very attractive and well made.

Value : $60 - $75/pair     This set of two plates are 8" with gold color fields and images of a boy cat on one, and a girl feline on the other; in the center. The rear sides of the plates are not shown, but are the same as the prior cat plate with an Alexander mark in block lettering. Also, as the prior kitten plate- these cats are dressed up with the male sporting a hat, white collar and cuffs, and a tie. The lady cat has her best set of earrings on, along with her fancy collar and pretty cuffs. The set is as cute as they can be making them a sought-after pair on the market- but hard to find.

Value : $35 - $40     This plate is 10" with a gold color field and a white & gray color Siamese cat in the center. The rear side is titled Lady from Siam by Alexander in hand-made gold color lettering, and a foil Made in California by Alexander label. The art work on this and the next matching plate of this Siam set shown below is amazing. The cat's features are captured in great detail, making it a higher value with great demand.

Value : $35 - $40     This plate is 10" with a gold color field and a white & gray color Siamese cat in the center. The rear side is titled Gentleman from Siam by Alexander in hand made gold color lettering. Again Alexander made this design with a very accurate depiction of the cat, including the mesmerizing look in his eyes. The Gentleman of Siam plate is slightly harder to find on the market than the Lady, however both are very popular.

Value : $60 - $75     This serving tray is the largest item Alexander created at 21 1/2" wide by 16" tall. The tray is not his typical copper base, but rather is sheet metal with pattern-stamped & rolled edges, painted a matt black color on all sides. The design is simple Siamese cat in the center of the field, with the rear side being untitled. The front lower corner is marked by hand painting Alexander, and the rear side has a hand-painted mark Hand Painted in California. This tray is one of the plainer creations of the trays he made, but it is still hard to find on the market and attractive because of the size & being a tray that has a cat. It is believed that Alexander may have purchased blank trays from a manufacturer, and then applied his art to them. They are circa late 1950's.

Value : $30 - $35     This plate is 8" with a black color fading to gold speckle field and a white poodle dog in the center. The rear side is untitled with an incised Alexander mark in the glaze, and a foil Made in California by Alexander label. This poodle was a popular subject and was made in several different colors & sizes of plates, as well as in different wares.

Value : $40 - $45     This ashtray is 8 1/2" with a gold color field and a black color poodle dog in the center. The rear side is titled Monsieur Le Poodle by Alexander in hand painted gold lettering. Ashtrays by Alexander are hard to find on the market, and the subject of this one being a proud dog makes it very collectible.

Value : $80 - $85     This serving tray is 21 1/2" wide by 16" tall with a gold colored field and a majestic white poodle dog in the center. The rear side is also gold color with a hand applied Hand-Painted in California mark. The front lower corner is also marked Alexander in white hand-done lettering. This tray is an outstanding and impressive item because of the impact of the bright gold color in combination with the handsome canine, which makes it one of the highest priced & valued of Alexander's wares. Of interest is the fact that Alexander always made slight variations with his work- even within the same design. Note on each of the poodle items that the dog's collars are different colors and/or patterns.

Note on Price Guide: Values shown are for items that are in Mint to Near Mint Condition. Any damage such as cracking or crazing of the enamel surface (which is usually caused by an impact), or any other damage to the item results in a lower value.
